Notes

Since the questionnaire relies on client's observations, all responses should be verified by the clinician, and a definitive diagnosis is made on clinical grounds taking into account how well the client understood the questionnaire, as well as other relevant information from the client.

These scales should NOT be used alone to make any diagnosis. You must take into consideration information from multiple sources.

The VADPRS is not a substitute for clinical diagnosis. Together, the Vanderbilt Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Parent Rating Scale (VADPRS) and Vanderbilt Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Parent Rating Scale (VADTRS) can be useful adjuncts to an evaluation.

It is important to note that the scales are not substitutes for clinical interviews to obtain information from parents and children in evaluating a child for possible ADHD.
